1. the thought of taking this annoying little girl all over the vineyard instead of plotting to get the vineyard at a cutthroat price from the Parkers depresses him;
2. he's a staunch global warming denier and he doesn't like how those big government liberals even got to a blond little girl; or
3. Sophie knows too much already, and he's going to have to kill her.
