Monday's Mother Goose and Grimm

I was originally going to post something about how comics and cartoons always make poodles girl dogs, as if an entire breed can be one sex. (If there were only girl poodles, then there would be no more poodles!) But then I realized that there was nothing in this strip that implies that the "poodle twins" are female, and nothing implies that these two dogs are male. So, yes, I have to admit that even I made a heteronormative assumption. I should just turn in my Queerketeer hat and call it quits, but I think I'll just use this as a "teaching moment" to show how pervasive heteronormativity is.

But there's still a whole lot of Grimmy ass in panel three, and half the point of this blog is pointing out animal ass in the comics.

I thought you were going to point out that Lassie was played by a male dog. But I liked the lesson in heterosexism too :)
