I'm guessing the point of this week's Funky Winkerbean subplot is "Jim Klobichnick is an asshole". I don't see what it has to do with Darin finding his birth-mom or Lisa fighting breast cancer or one-armed Becky longing to be reunited with her fiance in Iraq, but I'm holding out hope that Jim's supreme douchebag-ness will solve everyone's problems.

The message of this Funky Winkerbean comic is the same as that of every other Funky Winkerbean comic.
Namely, that the universe is vast and uncaring and every human being who has ever lived is utterly meaningless. Here, have some cancer.
